In the year 2000, Furnace marked the turning of the millennium with the creation of The Leacainn Forest Walk, a 5.25 mile circular walk starting from Furnace up to Auchindrain Township and then around and back to Furnace. It features plenty of flora and fauna along the way, including waterfalls, ancient bridges, rivers, pastures, the wolf stone (where legend has it the last wolf in Scotland was shot) glimpses of the areas industrial heritage and loch views.

The path is marked but can be rough at times so wear good walking shoes. For a full, detailed description of the walk go to Walkhighlands.co.uk
