Given the size Furnace is well-served. We have a small primary school, a village hall hosting a variety of events, a community owned village bar, a small but well-stocked shop open 7 days a week and a sub-postoffice counter, within the shop operating Mondays to Fridays. We also have a church with a regular Sunday service.
Many of our clubs and activities are run in the village hall which also hosts private functions and the community owned bar is in the extension of the hall.
